[Now Hear This] Black Milk
Posted on August 11th, 2010

We don’t know much about the Detroit rapper/producer known as Black Milk. What we do know is that there is a very heavy J. Dilla influence in the songs and that the album Tronic is on serious rotation in our cars/office right now.
Get yourself a taste of some Black Milk below.

[Now Hear This] Blonde x Da Fam Inc. pt. 2 – Phella’s “Deaf Poetry Jam Rebuild”
Posted on July 19th, 2010

From Phella’s website:
“Shout out to the D town holding us down lately. I was going about my day last week when I got in my inbox this rebuild of my “Deaf Poetry Jam Part 1″. It was from Wake, a very talented producer and artistic mind who also happens to be the owner of The Blonde Collective. A rebuild is basically taking acapella vocals and building a track around them. It even came with artwork. Needless to say I was excited and couldn’t wait to share.”

[Guilty Pleasure]: Little Boots – “Earthquake”
Posted on June 22nd, 2010
We can’t stop listening to this track from the English, electro-pop singer/songwriter… Seriously, it’s like an everyday thing.
If you aren’t feeling the live version, here is the original version (directed by David Wilson). Also, below is a “mix approved” Treasure Fingers remix that we currently have in rotation.

[Now Hear This]: School of Seven Bells – “Windstorm”
Posted on June 14th, 2010

Brooklyn’s School of Seven Bells began as a collaborative project between Ben Curtis from Secret Machines and the Deheza sisters from On Air Library!. Now, on the verge of their second full-length, those old bands seem more like an afterthought than ever.
School of Seven Bells hit the scene hard and released their first record “Alpinisms” via Ann Arbor/NYC label Ghostly International. After videos for the singles “My Cabal” and “Half Asleep” and tours with M83 and Bat For Lashes, the band is ready to start giving out small doses of what is to come on their new record.
First came the track “Babelonia”, which was leaked to the blog, RCRD LBL. Now, SVIIB have released the single “Windstorm”. In true Bell’s style, the track has a minimalist, electronic vibe with big, sweeping shoegaze interlaced within. It is also packaged with non-album track “Crescent Gold” and a great remix of “Windstorm” by A Place To Bury Strangers.
School of Seven Bells second full-length, Disconnect From Desire, is slated for release on July 13th (via Vagrant/Ghostly International). Pre-order the record here.
